Premade cookie dough is the wave of the future. It's easy, cost effective, and consistantly good. The only trouble is that it can be a little dull and lame to give as gifts. That's why it should be treated more as an ingredient than an end result. Here are two ways to change up sugar cookie dough to make it your own.
Donut-Glazed Citrus Cookies
1 18oz roll premade sugar cookie dough
1 tablespoon (lime, lemon, or orange) zest
1 1/2 cups sifted powdered sugar
1 teaspoon (lime, lemon, or orange) zest
3 tablespoons fresh (lime, lemon, or orange) juice
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix zest and dough until well combined. Bake 10-13 minutes or until edges are golden. Allow cookies to cool. In a medium bowl, mix together glaze ingredients. Dip the face of the cookies into the glaze and place on a sheet of wax paper or plate. Allow glaze to set before serving.
White Chocolate Chip & Cranberry Cookies
2 18 oz rolls premade sugar cookie dough
8 oz dried cranberries
12 oz white chocolate chips
2 tsp ground ginger
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix all ingredients until well combined. Spoon scoop or roll into 1.5" balls and place on a greased cookie sheet. Bake 10-13 minutes or until edges are golden.
