actually don't most use a simple syrup instead of plain sugar?

Simple syrup is a bit advanced for southern sweet tea. It disolves more easily than sugar, especially in room temperature or cold tea. However, my mom and grandmothers just stir plain sugar into steaming hot tea.

This is perfect! Since I've lived in the NW my entire life, I have no idea how to make sweet tea... but I'm throwing a bridal shower for a friend in a couple weeks, and she grew up on sweet tea in Tennessee. I think I'll give this recipe a shot. Thanks!

can you use splenda or sweet n low?

I've never tried spelenda or sweet n low in sweet tea before, but I'm sure they'd work out fine.
