After a lot of research and Map Questing, we decided to venture out to Pair on our first night. We had a couple of glasses of wine some tasty bread and butter while reveling in our escape from L.A.. Overall, it was a good restaurant to take a date.
Atmosphere: A small and charming mom and pop restaurant with a European lodgey feel. The actual building was an old one-story house that has been converted into a restaurant. Although a little out of the way, it’s location, near the University of Washington, has a small college town neighborhood feel.
Clientele: A mix of college kids on dates and yippie neighborhood folk.
The Food: The portions are small and are meant to be paired with their endless selections of wine. The food was above average and of high quality ingredients, but is meant more for a first date that you are embarrassed to eat in front of or an alcoholic than a hungry diner. My steak frite was cold and pretty average, but the chicken was juicy, the gratin was flavorful, and the gnudi was perfect in every way.
