I am all about homemade cranberry sauce. My favorite way to make it is with the zest and juice of a fresh orange. I've had a favorite recipe I've used for a few years now, but this year I decided to follow Tyler Florence's lead and add some cinnamon and brown sugar to the pot.
Tyler's Cranberry Sauce
1 (16-ounce) bag frozen cranberries, thawed
2 oranges, juiced and 1 orange zested
1/3 cup brown sugar
1 cinnamon stick
Combine all of the ingredients in a saucepan and simmer until the cranberries just begin to burst, about 15 minutes.
I support your brown sugar and cinnamon decision. I feel like orange zest takes it further away from something that tastes right if it touches gravy and cinnamon and brown sugar somehow bring it back.
